During a visit to A&E with my unwell child, my child was sick in the a&e waiting room bathroom. I flagged this with the staff on reception desk suggesting they sent a cleaner to professionally clean it or to cordon it off, I was told to do my best to clean it up with tissue. There was no medical waste bin, so a large amount of soiled, potentially infectious waste went into the recycling bin. I did the best I could and it looked ok but there is no way a paper towel made it clean enough for a hospital - no wipes or cleaning materials supplied and the bathroom was not cordoned off. I felt bad for the patients entering and using the room subsequently and felt unsafe that potentially infectious matter was still there when we left

Review of A & E Parent / Carer Survey
1st August 2023

I attended a&e with my son, he was very poorly and was sick in the patient bathroom. It was unexpected so we weren’t prepared with a bowl so it went everywhere. I popped to the A&E reception and was told to “clean it up with tissue” - given that we didn’t know what infection he had, there were no sterile wipes or anything for me to use to make it safe and no medical waste bin in the toilet so I had to put soiled hand towels in the recycling bin. The toilet wasn’t cordoned off after for cleaning and no one really cared. Not only did I feel bad for the other patients who might use it I felt that such a lacklustre attitude to cleanliness and infection control put me and my sick son at great risk just being in the department. also people were smoking at the entrance to a&e so we all had the pleasure of breathing their smoke whilst we were waiting - not great given that my son was poorly and is asthmatic.

Suggested improvements
Cordoned off the bathroom area until it was properly cleaned, medical waste bin in the bathroom for when patients have to clean up spills and maybe some clinelle type wipes available near the toilet.

Review of Beaumont Ward
27th July 2023

I was cared for by staff on Beaumont ward yesterday and I cannot thank them enough for their compassion, kindness, and support. I was going through a very difficult time, and their care towards me made the whole experience much easier to go through. The staff are incredible, and really do care about the patients.

Today I was seen at the Minor Injuries Unit at Warwick Hospital, I arrived at 7.30am in A&E and then sent to MIU for their opening time at 8.30am. I had a dislocated toe which was treated quickly and professionally, I received two consultations and two x rays within 2.5 hours, amazing turn around and really professional support and care. I want to make a special mention to the senior nurse at MIU, Becky McAttur (not sure of the spelling), she was wonderful. So caring, personable, knowledgeable and committed, she treated me as if I was the only person she was seeing that day, so much personal care and attention. I instantly warmed to her style and her team. A huge thank you for her help today, such a wonderful professional, representing the incredible NHS with warmth and dedication. Thank you, Becky. From Claire with the dislocated toe :)

Review of Delivery Suite
22nd July 2023

I was in very good hands with the mid wife - Sharon who diagnosed me from when I got to Bluebell. She was very patient and caring with me, I felt very safe and reassured. She gave me plenty of dignity and can see what was the best route was for me to have this baby. I had a natural birth with no drugs. I was performed a episiotomy by her and felt very reassured it was going to help deliver my baby. She also monitored the heart rate of my baby well and could see I was pushing hard but baby was starting to give up. She mentioned to have an assisted vaginal delivery using the kiwi. Although it was so painful when inserted in, it was also the best thing that happened to help deliver my baby safely and quickly as his heart rate started to drop. Doctor Urie was there to assist the birth. Both him and Sharon did such a great job, and safely helped me deliver my 8.1IBS baby. I was also offered to keep the placenta if wished to (declined) which is I thought was very respectful. Doctor Urie did a fantastic stitch up and 12 weeks later, I healed very well. 10 months on, I am feeling super healthy and actively fit.

Suggested improvements
I wasn’t offered any drugs during my birth as I dilated 12cm by the time I got there. But I did wonder whether I should have been offered gas and air which was something I wasn’t offered back then.

Review of General Surgery Day Surgery Unit
12th July 2023

My daughter, Anya Lewsey DOB 29/01/07 had a tonsillectomy on 10/07/23 at Warwick Hospital. She was exceptionally anxious about the operation and the staff could not have been better in caring for her. They were kind and empathetic, they looked after her cuddly Panda toy as well, which cheered her up. After the surgery the surgeons and medical staff regularly checked up on her and her Step Dad. I would like my thanks passed on to them - they are a fantastic team and we couldn't have asked for better care. Thank you enormously.

Suggested improvements
At the pre-op appointment we asked if the tonsillectomy would be a standard procedure or the quaternization and they were unaware of the difference or that we'd be told which approach would be used. This distressed my daughter as we couldn't find out the answer.

I am 94 years old and brought to Warwick hospital by my son after my doctor refused me treatment for a chest infection. I was having breathing problems and sleepless nights. The hospital was amazing, they could see my distress and did several things to alliviate my suffering, my GP did not seem to care and did not attend my home even though I was so poorly, I cannot praise the hospital staff enough. First class service from start to finish, thank god they care , they deserve my praise and I hope our government does the right thing by them all. They are trully worth their weight in gold.

We went to A&E at Warwick Hospital with our 21 month old son and from the moment we walked in we were seen quickly and treated fantastically. The service and care we received was exceptional and we left feeling reassured and that we had been well treated - we were even offered a hot drink! The nurses and doctors were caring and patient and we cannot thank them enough.
